What to know about hospitalisation of your animal in Veterinary Hospital De Bosdreef
1. Admittance for hospitalisation is by appointment only to better manage the stay of your animal in the clinic. During normal opening hours you will be consulted by the clinician overseeing the examination/treatment of your animal. Outwith these hours you will be assisted by the duty vet. 2. On admittance you will be given an explanation of the expected examinations/treatment and you will be informed about the possible costs. The price quoted at the time of the initial consultation is only an estimate for a routine case without complications. If any complications arise, the final bill can be higher then the initial estimate. Nevertheless, we will always contact you before doing any examinations/treatments that will incur additional costs. A consent form has to be signed on admittance for all hospitalised animals. 3. For certain patients admittance is possible on Sunday morning between 0900 and 1100. We provide this service for horses who are to be operated, or who need to have a bone-scan on Monday. This service is provided at no extra cost and allows us to follow our time-schedule on Monday as strictly as possible. Additionally transport should be more convenient on a Sunday. 4. Special requests should be made known to the clinician overseeing the case upon admittance to the clinic. In some cases extra costs will be charged to fullfil these request (eg. horse stabled on wood-shavings). 5. If you want to visit your hospitalised animal this can be done during normal opening hours or on Sunday between 1000 and 1200. For security reasons visits at other times are prohibited. For pet animals an appointment is necessary. 6. As we try to give all the hospitalised animals a full check-up in the morning, information on the health status of your animal is available by telephone from approximately 1100. It is advisable to make clear arrangments with the clinician treating your animal about the most convenient time to call for information. In case of emergencies, you will be contacted by someone from the clinic. 7. Appointments are required for discharge of patients during normal opening hours. Consultations will be with the clinician overseeing the treatment of your animal. Outwith normal opening hours the duty vet will be available for consultation. Specific questions arising at a later stage should be directed to the original clinician. We request that accounts are settled in full at the time of discharge as credit cannot be given. You can get information about the state of your account by telephone before you collect your animal. 8. The referring veterinary surgeon is contacted after admittance and following each consultation, important examination or surgery and will be kept up to date about the state of his/her patient. The discharge of a patient is communicated to the referring veterinary surgeon by telephone. A written report will be sent and the owner will receive a copy. In situations where the final laboratory results are not yet available to complete the report, the preliminary conclusions are communicated by telephone and the final report is sent as soon as all the results are known. |
